| Here you can see the ground level slopes away from
the road; but what you cannot see is that the present farmhouse was built in stone
over a medieval oak frame, evidence of which I have seen. Yorkshire folk have
a reputation for being careful in spending money, but why would any landlord want
to knock down a perfectly sound building just for fashion? Note the first window on the ground floor: it used to look like the one in the next picture. |
