| During WW II every family in the land was encouraged
to give their aluminium pans and kettles to help the war effort. Iron railings that decorated the tops of stone walls throughout the country were cut off for the same reason. Rumour has it however a field down Shipley way had piles of fresh cut railings rusting away months after the war ended. |
