Return to Saint Street and turn right into Great Horton Road where over a high wall is Brooksbank House. It was always a place of curiosity for me. Built by the wealthy local Brooksbank family in the 18th century this fine house has quite obviously seen better times. Sadly it is now divided up into at least two dwellings. This area of overgrown land may well have been the house's
walled garden.
