The street too has changed since we all lived there: instead of the back-to-back
houses that once stood here I found these brand new terrace houses built recently. Back-to-back means there is a small house at the front on the street and another the same size built under the same roof immediately behind it. They were built fast, often crudely, with a water tap and midden in the back yard. They still stand in large numbers all over the North of England but have undergone either massive improvements or demolition since W.W.II.
