The street too has changed since we all lived there:
instead of the back-to-back houses that once stood here I found these brand
new terrace houses built recently. Back-to-back means there is a small house at
the front on the street and another the same size built under the same roof immediately
behind it. They were built fast, often crudely, with a water tap and midden in
the back yard. They still stand in large numbers all over the North of England
but have undergone either massive improvements or demolition since W.W.II. |
