| Reading from right to left in this well presented group are: the Gaol House, Guildhall, Town Hall and its Victorian extension. The Gaol House contains not only the town regalia, but "Tales of the Old Gaol House" intended to make your skin creep. The large perpendicular style window in the next building was part of the hall of the Trinity Guild rebuilt after the fire of 1421. Behind the main hall are two more large rooms, the Assembly and Card Rooms built in 1767. The Town Hall entrance porch is in Renaissance style being built around 1624. The facade carries the arms of Elizabeth I and of Charles II. The extension on the left behind a stone and flint facade contains the Mayor's Parlour and municipal offices, added in 1895 and is now home to The Town House Museum - 900 years of Kings Lynn's social history. | |||
