Saint Margaret's Church was founded in 1101 after the Norman Conquest of 1066 by Herbert de Losinga, the first bishop of Norwich, as part of a long vanished Benedictine Priory.

The two towers at this western end of the church are quite different ~ the south-western tower's lower portion is Norman.
