 | The original chapel on this site in 1145 was a chapel-of-ease built when the town was expanding onto "new" land, and no church was available within easy reach to accommodate the growing congregation. The present building was completed in 1420 and has some unusual features. The body of the church is all of a piece, which gives the illusion of great height; and the roof has angels carved into its tie beams. |
