Not
expecting Kim until after dark I took the camera for a walk. The Walmgate Bar
looks quite authentic, but the demands of modern traffic have altered it somewhat.
Its solid strength has resisted armies from the Wars of the Roses to the English
Civil War when Charles I made it his northern HQ before the Scots invaded and
he had to surrender. The rest, as they say, is history.
