Having read Sjoerd Andringa's "Friesland in Foto's" on my 1991 trip to the north and admired his pictures of the Kanselarij, the city became a prime target for me too. The Michelin Green Guide says " This former courthouse in the Renaissance style of 1566, on Turfmarkt, has a wide heavily decorated facade with a flight of steps [perron], and a statue of Charles V at the top of the facade." It was Charles V who united his lands in the Netherlands under one administration. |
