Here
is the apse of the Grote Kerk [Sint Gertrudiskerk] built solidly of brick with
buttresses of the same material, separated by tall windows. Its two transepts
confirm its Gothic cruciform shape. The roof appears to be slate of similar
colour and character as Welsh slate and could be imported from there.
