Sitting on the top of the dijk that separates the village of Driel from
the Neder Rijn, the house has a sweeping view of this section of
the river, and of the ferry crossing that allowed a small faction of the
Airborne soldiers fighting in the pocket of land at Oosterbeek to
escape the overwhelming German troops. Here the Polish Airborne
troops landed and linked up with the British.
