At the time the picture was taken this little alley [steeg] was undergoing renovation.

It leads down from the Zeedijk to the waters of Oude Zijds Voorburgwal and a display in the various "shop" windows as provocative as it is saucy.

A closed curtain indicates the occupant is busy ~ temporarily.
