The stone above is set in the wall of the VOC pakhuis in the
previous picture. The pride and wealth associated with the
Honourable Company can be seen in the quality of this very
visible piece of company promotion.

The value of its products is demonstrated by the fact that
these buildings were often built well back from the harbour
side - a defensive precaution.
