is a truly fine example of what you might call 'flamboyant restraint' in stadhuis design. Double step gables are topped with allegorical statues: each step has its own paired decoration: every window opening is half stone, half brick: there are no less than two friezes full of coats of arms; and the doorway can only be described as sculpted to impress. |
