The fashionable "new" architecture of 1909 when this exuberant piece was built was out of the Art Nouveau pattern book. Its windows and pinnacles hark back to Netherlands traditional styles but the corbelling over the door is quite new; and in out-of-the-way Zierikzee is a revolution in its own right.
