A very narrow street and parked vehicles do not help to get a good shot, but this one has the saving grace of pointing up two aspects of old buildings I have mentioned before: their fronts are often altered to suit the fashion of the time, but at the same time other parts leave clues to their earlier lives.

There are now two volute gables on the grand facade of the old Stadhuis, and the way that front merges with the brick step gable of the earlier building says so.

And the brick of the tower base seems to match the step gable colour.
